Tia Adeola Fall 2022
New York Fashion Week had some early activity as plenty of designers began showing even though the formal calendar says show week isn’t on until Friday. News of the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday certainly drew a pause from many. Across the pond, the English fashion powerhouse Burberry was said to cancel its upcoming show.

But here in American fashion, the shows carried on.
The return of Tommy Hilfiger to the New York ecosystem is important. The complexion of the week has changed as more unknown or almost famous designers present their collections.
And this is the other notable news. At least a dozen of these kinds of brands have presented collections with their businesses dominating NYFW. This is the most important trend to emerge.

You’ll find some of these labels in your town’s major stores or boutiques. Many more are online selling through e-commerce leaders or direct to the consumer (DTC). The number of independent designers now showing during show week is a direct result of the digitization of fashion.
Call it the Amazon effect. Everyone can set up a storefront online. Anyone can promote a collection on Instagram.
Monse Fall 2022
Turns out there’s a lot more talent out there than people knew.
And the good thing is they now have the ability to find their tribe of customers. Whether they become the next Tommy Hilfiger or Donna Karan is moot.
In Earnest by Byron Lars Fall 2022
Monse, In Earnest by Byron Lars, Tia Adeola, No Sesso, Collina Estrada, Christian Siriano and Janelle Langford are among those in the group. They showed up and showed out.
The opening round included heavyweight Proenza Schouler, whose collection featured plenty of black and white, deep ruffles and adorable bubble skirts.
The buzz of the early week is Kendall Jenner on the runways, Kate Moss’s comeback and Janet Jackson’s appearance at NYFW. She attended the Christian Siriano show. Where will she show up next? Did you see her?
