“We must become brand allies,” said Cavaco Reck. “Performative brand inclusion does not allow a brand of any kind to grow.”
Knockout Beauty, the independent beauty retailer, has curated a black-owned beauty edit to go along with its innovative eco-friendly brands. Together, the products address some of skincare’s most pressing concerns such as anti-aging, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and blemishes.
Although we’re experiencing a rather different norm, skincare has become a focus for consumers increasingly interested in self-care. Knockout Beauty aims to be the leading retail destination for all of your beauty needs during and post-pandemic.
With its online site, in-store shops, and free-standing boutiques in New York and Los Angeles, owner Cayli Cavaco Reck says Knockout Beauty promotes “conscious beauty for the modern- minded.” It prides itself on sustainable and efficient beauty products, and sees the additional attention to Black beauty products as means to support black businesses and to further diversify the beauty industry.
“We must become brand allies,” said Cavaco Reck. “Performative brand inclusion does not allow a brand of any kind to grow. Supporting Black-owned brands means educating consumers and creating brand loyalty so that they can forecast and innovate at a competitive pace.”
Added the beauty maven, whose mother was fashion trailblazer Kezia Keeble and whose father Paul Cavaco helped shape the direction of fashion and beauty, including, at Allure, for many years, as a stylist and creative director, “This allows brands to become directional which ultimately allows for greater industry diversity.”

“I created ROSE MD based on my 20+ career as a clinical dermatologist who curated effective skincare regimens for my thousands of patients,“ said Dr. Ingleton. “ I observed that my patients were primarily asking for my help with skin concerns that seemed to fall into 4 basic categories: hyperpigmentation/dullness, aging skin, breakouts/“blemishes” and dry, irritated skin. Dr. Ingleton adds. “In answer to their specific needs, I developed a skincare line that is simple, targeted, and effective to address these common skin concerns.“

Hyper Skin,, the creation of Desiree Verdejo has adopted the premise of challenging hyperpigmentation of the skin. Since her early adolescence, Verdejo said she continuously suffered the pesky effects of dark marks and spots. She built Hyper Skin to combat the pressing concern of hyperpigmentation due to a lack of skincare brands that would so often disregard this issue. Hyper Skin implements a sense of “multiculturalism” and continues to support all skin types.
