The Labor Day weekend approaches. It’s the last time we fashion folk get to rest, restore before the bloody onslaught of the New York fashion shows start September 6-12.
Fashion bees are buzzing about two tea-time topics as we take our last trips to the country or face the fact that you have less than a week to get your show ready.
- Marc Jacobs taking his show to Brooklyn
- Rihanna’s lingerie show
I look forward to seeing collections from some of the army of independent designers who’ve taken over show week. All you need to put on a show these days is a brinks truck or lots of friends, interns and some fabric. It’s all very diffuse. Yes the big guns like Marc, Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler, Calvin Klein and Narciso Rodriguez are still firing, but IDs are reshaping what we see at show week.
