
A masterful remix and refresh of Chanel from new Chanel designer, Matthieu Blazy. Note how he takes the brand markers, keeps them, but totally reworks them. They are almost unrecognizable. But, they are firmly in place – camellia, menswear suiting, the brooch, cardigan jackets, two-tone cap-toe, mid-heel shoe, the pragmatically-sized it bag. Every element – from the other worldly stage setting, Ayo Edebiri as the new Chanel brand ambassador, the audio featuring voice overs aligned with modern women’s complex lives – all beautifully pushed Chanel forward. Yet Blazy’s Chanel, exuded the elegance that will appeal to women of means interested in propriety and luxury status. And finally, there were enough passionate traffic-stoppers to satisfy the red carpet crowd sitting front row including, A-listers – like Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton and Penelope Cruz.
